New Resource

Im really stuck on something.

My goal is to get away from Image Lists and to use a Resource file instead.
I followed an example and went to Properties of my project and clicked on
the resource tab.

Here I have found that I can add my images here.
But how do I create a Resource file that has a differnet name...something
like: MyIcons.rsex, so i can just put all my icons in 1 file.

Im finding I am adding the same icons to different image lists on different
forms, and I think this would be way easier to maintain through one file.

I just cant figure out how to add a brand new file name / resource.

Can someone please explain / help start me off in the right direction ?

Just had to find it out, too:

Menu Project -> Add new item -> Select "text file" and change the file name
to myicons.resx -> Ok. The resource editor will open.

Thank you Armin,

That is what I was looking for.

I have a VB2003 book and it wasnt helpful at all, and I could not find that
simple method on google.

Much Appreciated.

One thing I have noticed - and just to be careful of.

If i go in my solutions explorer and rename it. It messes up, and even by
fixing the file in question manually. Sometimes the Pictures / Icons do not
display anymore. Only solution I found ( which was faster for me ) was to
delete the rsex file and re-create it.

Otherwise, very happy. Works great - solved my problem of having duplicate
icons everywhere.
