New Problem with File Sharing

H

Help Needed

After reading some of the earlier posts here, it seems that some other users
are having the same problem that I'm now facing.

Used to be able to access the networked home computers shared folders
between PCs. Lately, the shared folders on other computers are no longer
accessible. Printers sharing still enabled.

I've tried turning off firewalls (winxp & 3rd party) on both machines but
still doesn't work.

Can ping and see each other in the same workgroup.

Start by uninstalling (not disabling) any third-party firewalls. Many
firewalls do not disable fully or correctly.

Walter,

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, but there are other possibilities too. Turning
off a personal firewall doesn't always produce a result; you may have to
configure properly, or un install.
