Is it possible to install an existing Hard Drive onto a new motherboard
without reformatting and reinstalling? I've been told by some techs that it
is not necessary to R/R anymore as winXP will take care of it for me (???)
by overwriting the old drivers.

I've also heard there is an "enum" file that can be deleted and a reboot
will load all the new drivers.

If the winXp info is wrong -- Is there a proper (an easier) way other than a
complete R/R
Thanks

Dave

Dave, it depends. For instance, I was able to move my hard drive from a
Epox 8K7A+ to a Epox 8K3A+ without
too many device driver conflicts and no Bsod's. But if your
motherboards are radically different then you probably will
experience bsod's. Removing the enum keys from the registry may help.
Go to Start>Run type regedit
Navigate to Hkey_Local_Machine\System\Control Set 1, 2, etc and
Current Control Set\Enum Folder. Don't delete it
until you choose export and save it in case you need it again. Also,
check in Hkey_Current_Config\System\etc.
