One thing that irritates me in Outlook 2003 is that new mail notification
(pop-ups/wavs/task tray icon) are triggered even though the mail is
transfered to the Junk Mail folder. I would like to see Outlook 2007 only
trigger new mail notification actions if:
1) It doesn't go into the junk mail folder. I recognize that other programs
create their own folders (McAfee/Symantec) and it would not be reasonable to
request that it not be triggered for those plug-ins, but if you can then by
all means do.
2) That a rule hasn't already processed it for deletion or that it hasn't
been automatically processed for calendar/meeting requests.
I feel that the junk mail folder being bold regardless of the message read
status is very valid and is a safe back to let the user know that mail has
come into the folder that a notification hasn't been given for.
And while there are plenty of others who might feel differently than I, I
have only to say to those that keep everything and maintain 100+ unread
emails in their inbox... clean up your mailbox or I'll do it with mailbox
manager and managed folders.
