New mail envelope not displaying on Notification Bar

I am using Outlook 2003. I recently noticed that when I receive a new
e-mail, the desktop alert box (transparency box) appears as it should,
however I have no envelope in the notification bar letting me know I have new
e-mail. If I'm away from my desk for a while, I have to bring up my Outlook
to see if there is any new mail in my inbox. All the indicators are flagged
for new e-mail alerts (sound, alert box, envelope). Before this week the
envelope was displaying like it should, but now it does not. I have no idea
why it stopped displaying. Does anyone have any suggestions on correcting
this. Thank you.

Try turning off notification area customizations.
