New mail download but not to inbox

I recently had to change my hard drive so I copied the old harddrive to the
new one. I have been able to find everything even my old email but now when
my new mail downloads, it doesn't show up in the inbox. Where is it going
and how can I get it to show up in the inbox?

Check your Rules Wizard and see if there are any rules moving your messages
to different folders. You should also check the view setting on your inbox
and make sure it's set to Messages, and make sure you're not sorting on the
Icon column. Finally, run an Advanced Find and see if the messages are in
any other folders.

I checked all the items you recommended and still no mail. There were no
rules running, the view setting is set to messages, I'm not sorting on the
icon column and the Advanced search revealed 0 messages, I even checked for a
message that I know was in my box before the download occured. I hope I
haven't lost it forever. Please help. I am running outlook 2003 and I have
at this point disabled the auto send/receive feature so as not to loose any
more mail.

Try creating a new mail profile from scratch and see if that helps.

still nothing....
Does this have anything to do with the hard drive copy as opposed to outlook
itself? I have windows xp home and the shortcut link that was on my start
menu pointing to outlook no longer works. I have to go to
start-programs-microsoft outlook instead.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "the hard drive copy as opposed to
outlook itself", but is Outlook set as your default mail program in Control
Panel | Internet Options | Programs? If the Start Menu shortcut isn't
working, perhaps you should run Detect and Repair on your Office
installation. You can find Detect and Repair on the Help menu of any
installed Office program. Make sure you have your Office installation CD
handy.

Click Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next and look at the drop-down at the bottom
left. That's where your mail is being delivered.

Thank you so much Jocelyn! The detect and repair worked!

Although I can't find the mail that downloaded during the past couple of
weeks, I am now receiving new mail in my inbox. Thanks again!

Open Windows Exporer and enter the following in the Address field:

%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Click Go. You should see, in addition to your current Personal Folders file
(named "Personal Folders(1).pst", perhaps), you should also see another PST.
This is probably the one you using before you repaired Outlook. To get it
back, in Outlook, click File>Open>Outlook Data File, browse to that PST,
select it, and click OK.
