New Laptop running XP

I have this little problem with 100 laptops that we recently purchased.
I ghosted all 100 wit a image but when the machine goes to standby the
keyboard locks up. Some keys work and so does the mouse but people are
unable to put the password in.

One thing I found out is that I can make the same thing happen if I hold the
CTRL and WINDOWS KEY down. The space bar works, the backspace key does a
small box ??? and H ( I think) deletes.

I have downloaded a hotfix from MS which I had to phone up for but its still
not fixed it.

100 annoyed users are on my case and I am lost.

I thought it was a keyboard related problem but ininstalling and
reinstalling doesn't work.

Anyone got any suggestions.???

Thanks in advance

Do the laptops in question have a function where you can press a key
combination (something like Fn+F1) to make part of the keyboard behave as
the numeric keypad on a desktop kb? If they do, try that key combination
when they come out of standby, and see if the keyboards are toggled back to
their usual mode.
