When the installation starts, I get a screen with 3 options: 1) To setup xp
on the selected item, press enter. 2) To create a partition in the
unpartitioned space, press C. 3) To delete the selected partition, press D.
This is my kids pc and I don't think they need a partitioned hard drive. When
I try to delete the partition, I get a message saying I can't delete it
because it contains temporary setup files needed to complete the
installation. If I select the first option, it says that installing multiple
operating systems on a single partition is not recommended. Any
recommendations please? If I create a partition, what's the downside? Can I
then go back and delete the other partition after the installation is
complete?

Assuming that you do not want to keep any files from 98 then you want to
start completely from scratch
Its got part way throught the install and let files around !

Turn off
Turn back on and boot from CD
choose D to delete the partition - this should now work!
then C to create a new one use maximum size it will allow
Format (actually quick format is ok) using NTFS

and then press enter to continue to install

I hope this helps
Patrick
