I've just reinstalled my system and keep getting a screen refresh for some
reason. All the icons will go away including the sys tray, but, will come
back after a few seconds, although, not all will show up in the tray again.
Its as if I keep telling the system to refresh, but, I've not. I've got the
latest drivers for my video card and RAID. I'm not sure what is causing this.
And not sure how to find out.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Give the system lots of time to get squared away -- for building the prefetch files, for one.
How long has this behavior been going on? Minutes, hours ?

How did you re-install Windows? clean install? while internet was disconnected / and no antivirus running?

It was a clean install from yesterday morning without internet hooked up
until SP 2 was installed. Started doing the 'refresh thing' yesterday
afternoon.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

If you have applied SP2, allow it a few hours of idle time (leave XP up and running for a few hours).

Later on check to see Device Manager shows the right video driver. Then check settings for Display.

Its been sitting for several hours and has so far been fine.
I was wondering if possibly there was a bad windows update, since my mom's
computer, which just recently had SP2 installed on it has started doing the
exact same thing. I saw this myself today.
Any more thoughts???
Thanks

Still getting the same results. Screen refresh for no reason. Device manager
shows the correct card and driver.
Its very annoying. Nothing destructive, but, it will refresh no matter what
you're doing.
Any further thoughts?
Thanks
