New install of BitDefender8 gives only an error msg .

I sent and rec'd the following msgs concerning a 'new' AV
installation. I don't think BD support read my question very
closely. I was already attempting to do what they suggested
and BD8 gives the same error msg for any type of scanning attempt.
Anyone familiar with the error msg that I am getting?

I just installed and updated BitDefender8 free.
After seeing many positive comments I am anxious
to evaluate your AV. I read the help file but....

So far ANY attempt to scan a file, folder or the C
drive produces a msg, "Unable to connect to the scanner".

Guidance would be appreciated.

Dear BoB,

In order to solve the issue you are dealing with and get more
protection for your computer we recommend you to download and
install a trial version of BitDefender 8 Standard or BitDefender 8
Professional Plus from: http://www.bitdefender.com/bd/site/form.php

You said "BitDefender8 free" and they seem to be telling you (per
common practice) that they don't DO support for free versions. If
you've actually installed a TRIAL, that is not the same as FREE. Free
is forever free, but Trial is to be paid in the future, and is
therefore Not-Free. See? <g>

The economical facts of life are that support sucks $$$.

I found another update was available this morning and it fixed
the inoperative scanning function. Maybe they discovered the
upgrade could not be divided the way they previously stated.
This problem may not have involved anyone unless they were in
the middle of installing free BD, as I was.

Any hoo, problem solved, and complete scan found nada. :)
