new ie patch problem

when I downloaded the latest patch on 10/4 for ie 6 it
left a fatal exception message with numbers I didn't write
down; the windows download history list says the download
was succesful. The error message was on install; do I
have a problem, how can I check, any other comments?

All appears to be well. According to these results, Q828750 was installed.
You may confirm this in Windows Update.log or iuhist.xml files.

You can confirm the proper files/versions were installed by comparing those
listed in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=828750 (I would assume a 32-bit
version, non-WinXP) with those currently in your Systems (or Systems32)
folder.

thanks for your help. my os is win 98,2nd ed. so is 32 bit.
