New HD

My old HD is on the verge of dying. i installed a new hd and found that w/
their attempts to prevent piracy i can no longer simply format /s and then
transfer windows and everything else to the new drive. does it now require
that i completely install XP to the new hd and go through all the fun of d/l
ing all the updates and running the transfer and settings wizard or this
still a simple way and I just can't find it? Thanx in Advance T. Border

Hi,

Format /s isn't used in WinXP, and really hasn't been necessary since Win95.
It has nothing to do with attempts to prevent piracy either. NT-based
systems are best installed to the hardware, copying an existing system
usually generates multiple problems. I suggest that you do what you have
stated: Install WinXP to the new drive, and use the fastwiz to transfer the
old system settings to the new one. Read up on that tool here:
