New documents in the same application

I have just updated to Word 2000 SR-1.

When opening documents, each one opens in a new Word
application, rather than just in a new window, is it
possible to make new documents open as a window?

Actually, while each document appears as a separate item on the taskbar,
only one instance of Word is running. The Single Document Interface
(SDI) in Word 2000 cannot be disabled. SDI can be turned off in Word
2002 and 2003... now you have a reason to upgrade again!

Thanks for the reply Garfield-n-odie, another update may
indeed be required, but I'm still trying tio get to grips
with this one first.... lots of useful things appear to
have gone....
