New connection wizard

I need to set up a dial up line. When I activate the new connection wizzard
I specifiy a manual setup. When I get to the screen with the the three
options (Connect using a dial up line, connect using a broadband requiring a
password, and connect using broadband that is always on) the first two are
faded out which makes them unselectable. I can't find any other means to set
up the dial up line. I have a satellite line that uses the lan setting. If I
go to the screen that shows all the connections the lan is listed but there
is no dial up listed (which was there at one point, showing it disabled).

Make sure that all required Services are running in the Control Panel

Thorsten,

I checked the "network connection" and it is started. Is there someother
service that would effect it? The Remote Procedue Call is enabled as well.

Are you sure that your PC is seeing the modem? Check the Device
Manager for any conflicts.

Thorsten,

I'm not familiar with the term "RAS". There are an enormous amount of
"Services" listed, most of which have nothing to do with "net connections".
Can you be a bit more specific? Thanks,

Bob

Bxb 7668,
No problem in the modem area. I think the problem is that the connection
wizzard has been affected so that the dial up directions have somehow been
disabled or that a file has been corrupted? I've never seen this happen
before.
Bob.

RAS = Remote Access. Check all services that have this term in their
name.
BTW: you should not have this problem with the default Services
settings that are created during the Windows installation. So it may
help you to find the cause of the problem when you try to remember
which settings had been "adjusted" afterwards. If no, you could simply
scroll through the list of Services, read the explanations and
enable/start all which may be related to the Dial-Up network.
