new computer update scan

Maybe someone can help me. I just got this computer HP at
Costco. When I scanned for updates I got 28 critical and
11 for XP. What I did not get was the one for Blaster but
even though this is new I would think I need the patch. I
have not downloaded any at this time. I started to
download all 28 and it was taking over two hours so I
quit. Appreciate any help as I don't know what I really
need.

I have them all. I always have had them so, since the first service patch
was released. If your operating was delivered with the SP1 fix installed,
that will eliminate 50, or so, patches. There will still be another 40
(approximately) to download. Take the time to get them all.

You need *all* the critical updates. Spend the necessary time to
get them.

You need the others only if they pertain to your particular
situation. Read their descriptions to make sure.
