New column on report

I have a report that give a yearly total recap by doing a Sum in the Year
footer. Report shows years in one column like below with the total number
next to it.

2000
2001
2002
2003
2004
2005
2006
2007

Is there a way where the report could appear with two columnslike below
instead of one column:

2000 2004
2001 2005
2002 2006
2003 2007

While the report's open in Design view, look at the Columns tab under File |
Page Setup

I changed the number of columns to 2 but it still lists all the years in one
line. Is there something else I need to do?

Did you make sure that the width of the column is appropriate?

I've tried changing the width, but that doesn't do anything either. My data
is in the Year Footer, and I have a graph in the Report Footer. As a test,
I've added years to the table and it just keeps going down the report page in
one line and pushes my graph onto a new page.

Sorry: I totally missed the fact that you're trying to do this in the
footer.

I don't believe it's possible.
