New Calendar 2003 - no reminders

I just recently upgraded to Office 2003 and have found a problem setting
reminders in new calendars I create.
I created a calendar as a sub folder of the main Calendar and when I enter a
new appointment and try to seet a reminder I get this message:
"The reminder for "..." will not appear because the item is not in your
Calendar or Tasks folder. Is this OK?"
What's the point of asking me that since when I say not it simply returns me
to the appointment and if I say yes I get no reminder?
Can anyone help me - should I have made the calendar a "main" folder rather
than a sub folder of the Calendar folder?
Thanks in advance for you help.

Reminders only fire in the default folders that Outlook creates. Any folder
that you create, no matter where it is, will not fire reminders.

There is an application, written by Outlook MVP Ken Slovak called Extended
Reminders that will allow you to have reminders fire from non-default
folders.

It is available here:
