New AD Setup - Question on Client Config

J

John

I have an NT 4.0 domain called (abcdomain.com) after upgrading the NT
4 PDC to Windows 2003 and running through the AD wizard. The AD domain
name is also abcdomain.com So now for my questions.

I have all Windows XP clients and a mix of NT/2000 servers which are
all part of the abcdomain.com. After the AD wizard is setup on the
Windows 2003 DC what do I need to do if anything on my client
machines. I have changed the DHCP for the network to include the new
DC's IP address as the DNS server for clients. I have reconfigured any
static DNS settings on the other NT/2000 servers to point to the new
DC.

Is there anything else that I need to do specifically on the client
side - Do I need to manuaully add the domain suffix (abcdomain.com)
into the TCP/IP properties on each computer or can I leave that blank
since they are part of the domain anyways?

Thanks for your responses..

John

No, there is nothing special to configure after you have done the upgrade
and changed DNS settings. Make sure, that on your DNS zone you have enabled
dynamic updates so that the clients will register in DNS server . Also
create a reverselokup zone if you are missing one from your DNS server.
