I recently installed a second HD in my computor (less than 2 year old P4 2.8
ghz machine, running XP Pro. Orginal drive 40 gb. When I look at "My
Computor" and select properties for this drive it only displays 8 gb capacity
instead of 80 gb capacity. I know this is not a hardware forum but can anyone
help or advise a forum that I can go to.

Thanks

What does the disk manufacturer's diagnostic program show?

1) Format of disk - FAT32 or NTFS?
2) WindowsXP SP2 installed?

Thanks to all for the replies, I have tried to re istall and now it is
showing 31.4 gb capacity. The format is NTFS, SP2 is installed. It has me
baffelled.

Use Windows Disk Management tool, to display the total size (forget the
partition information)?
On the bottom right it will show each disk (disk0, disk1) and the total
size.

Enter your BIOS, what does it report? Update your BIOS. If these are done,
then the question was already answered by JIM.
