Jim

I have two computers both running XP Professional
networked through a mini switch with broadband access.
Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. In the past when
it did not work just running the network wizard again
would cure the problem, however this morning it does not
cure the problem.
Funny thing is I still have an internet connection, but
no networking. I think I have covered all bases. The IP's
are automatically assigned, the firewall is disabled,
sharing is enabled. Both connections on the host appeared
to configured correctly and the lan connection on the
other is configured correctly. When viewing the computers
on the workgroup all I see is the group associated with
that computer and not the other computer, hence no file
sharing.Please help

Hi Jim,

I hardly ever let the router assign IP addresses. I would disable that
feature, aasign each pc an ip eg:

Router 192.168.0.1 mask 255.255.255.0
PC1 192.168.0.10 "
PC2 192.168.0.11 "

give both PCs the 192.168.0.1 (router) as gateway
and use the ISP assigned DNS server/s on both PCs and router.

hope this helps

regards

GB
