Have these 2 computers connected thru a Netgear DG814
Gateway. Internet connection works for both computers.
Have set Norton Firewall on each computer to allow access
of the other computer and can "Ping" the IP address of
each Computer and so the connection between them seems
OK. . (The workgroup name is the same)
Can mount the PC on the Mac and access the PC Files on
the Mac but cannot get the PC to "see" the MAC. When I
run "Network Wizard" in XP at the point where XP is
finalising the process I get the following Error message
concerning "Spoooler Subsystem App encountered a problem
and needs to close"
What does this mean and how can I get the PC to recognise
the Mac?
Can anyone help me, P.L.E.A.S.E ? have been at this for
hours!!!

Greetings LEARNER,

It appears that most of these spooler errors are due to a printer. Do you
have a printer installed?

You might want to try stopping the spooler service before running the
Network Wizard. Here is what you do.

1. Open the Command Prompt window.

2. Type "net stop spooler" and press ENTER.

3. Then run the Network Setup Wizard.

When you are finished, to restart this service, open the Command Prompt
window again. Then type "net start spooler" and press ENTER.

Greetings Eric
Thanks for your help. The advice sorted out the "Spooler"
issue. But I still cannot get the PC to see the Mac. When
the network Wizard has finished there are the options to
choose.
Create a Network Disc
Use Windows CD etc
but as I am trying to network to a Mac which
already "sees" the PC I choose the option
"Just finish the Wizard I do not need this for other
computers" Is this correct? or can you think of any other
reason for the problem I am experiencing. Hope you an
help and thanks,again

I'm sorry but I have only delt with Windows Networking so I cannot give much
details. The Wizard I beleive will not work on a MAC so just finish the
Wizard without those other options. If you do have any third party firewalls
installed such as ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security, or Sygate make sure
it is properly configured for the network.
