We just purchased a new computer with XP Pro and we are trying to network our
old computer with XP Home. I can't seem to get them to network for some
reason. Thery are both connected to the internet from a router, so that works
but I can't access any of our files from our old computer. When I try to run
the network wizard it says something about using a floppy or XP CD. My new
computer doesn't have a floppy drive, and we do not have an XP CD. Our old
computer running on XP Home was networked to our computer previous to that.
Why can't I network these two computers or share any files? Any ideas?

Abby,

If both computers connect thru a router, and both do connect to the Internet,
then running the NSW again is probably not going to help that much.

One of the most common causes of your problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, but there are other possibilities too. Look at
both computers very carefully - what antivirus protection do you use?

If no help yet, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely:
