Networking Problems

I have networked two computers via an Ethernet hub, the 'host' laptop and
'target' desktop system, both running Windows XP Pro. From the target, I
can Map A Network Drive, and then gain access (copy, etc.) to all folders on
the host, except windows and Program Files (where I get access denied).

On Target, Right click on My Computer, Map a Network Drive, Change Different
User Name to a System Administrator account on the host, and still the same
problem. I have tried many different things, but still get access denied
when trying to access the Windows and Program Files folders (but no other
folders).

Any advise?
Thanks!

Hi Bob,

It's better to set the laptop and desktop to use the same user account and
password. If it's impossible, (for example, desktop use user A and laptop
use user B.), we can create a new user B on desktop and make it the
computer administrator. Also, create the user A on laptop and make it the
computer administrator. Please also make sure the 2 computers are in the
same workgroup.

If one of the computer is a member of a domain and the other is a member of
a workgroup, please change the workgroup name to be the same with the
domain.

Thanks for using Microsoft News Group!

Sincerely,

Steven Liu
