hi,
I have a small office network of 4 systems
all running winxp and office 2000.

I would like to try officexp on one computer
but don't want incompatibilities to screw
things up.

Checked the MS site and could not find
any information.

thank's

officexp uses the xyz protocal and will never network
with office 2000 running the qtr protocal, sorry

you might try networking office1999 with office 1972
they both use the nixon/reagon protocal

Greetings --

Thanks, but I'll see your "education," and raise you my personal
experience supporting hundreds of Office installations on several
different networks.

Each newer rendition of Office that I have ever used/supported has
always been fully backwards compatible (with some exceptions
concerning Access files) with the earlier versions, and fully capable
of saving data files in the formats of the older applications. The
only related compatibility issues have involved Access databases, and
there were work-arounds for those. In plain terms, this means that,
for anyone capable of reading Office's Help files, and following the
simple guidance therein, there are no compatibility problems.

And, anyway, the OP never did ask a question, nor have you
provided an interpretation that could be construed one.

Bruce,

I still did not ask a question but i can now see that you are
able to interpret " I don't want incompatibilities to screw
things up."

You are right, Access was fully capable of saving
data files in the formats of the older versions. The problem was
in the begining you could not merge, query and on occasion access that
data. The "work-arounds, Office Help Files, simple guidance,"
Not for months after the release.

From now on I will use a question mark when I post, and please do not
misconstrue this: Thank you for your information and responding.
