u shouldnt do it that way, i suggest you get a router and
spoof your host computers IP, routers provide some
security and are best for DSL,cable and broadband
networking , unless you are using a strong firewall.
dont mess with crossover cables, one day you want to add
computers to your network...

Fred, would you please tell me what "spoof your host computers IP"
means and how to do it? I'm not familiar with that term.

Do you mean "clone your computer's MAC address"?
