NETWORKDAYS incorrect answer

Hi,
I'm using Excel 2002 SP3 and trying to use the NETWORKDAYS function. I'm asking it to give me the number of working days in each month of the year but it returns one day too many in most cases - it's accurate only on three or so months of the year. I'm not asking it to take any holidays into account; just to give me the number of weekdays in each month.
Please can you help?
