Network without DHCP

Hi,
at home wlan network is without DHCP. My Desktop and my Notebook are working
fine with static IP's. But I must use my Notebook at home and at work. At
work we have a DHCP. So I typed my home network IP as my APIPA IP in the TCP4
properties. Sometimes after VISTA wake up from standby it is using the
standard APIPA 169.254.x.x. Than i have to disable and enable the NIC to get
my own APIPA IP.
Do anyone know why?
My Notebook is a HP NX7400, all drivers are for VISTA.

You might use the network adapters alternate configuration window. Go into
the properties for TCP/IPv4 and select the Advanced -> Alternate
Configuration tab...

Here is the XP article that talks about this...

Otherwise a product like NetSwitcher may work for you...

Sorry, but with "my own APIPA" I meen the "Alternate Configuration". But the
configuration isn't working after Standby. Sometimes the Gateway is missing
and sometimes Vista use the MS APIPA (169.254.x.x.)...
I reinstalled VISTA today and the problem still exist.

I'm wondering if
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/933872/en-us is related
to your issue. The KB documents a loss of gateway address, but this
could be related.

Windows bt default assigns 169.... addresses if at start-up a DHCP is not
available - "awaking" from standby Windows will again check for DHCP.

I had a problem quite similar to this not too long ago, which persisted even
after system reboots & eventually broke my my networking.
If you have the same issue, the only fix I've found so far has been to
manually remove all interface IP settings in the registry & setup the
networks again, from scratch.
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\...

You are right.
I was to impatiently. After a minute or two my configuration is working
fine. I was confused about the 169.... addresses.

Thanks for open my eyes! ;)
