Hi all,
I'm trying to set up Win XP from a network source but set up keeps
terminating. It doesn't seem like it can load the necessary files.
I get the followig error: "Set up cannot copy the following file disk 1" If
i choose ignore it fails to load ntdll.dll

I don't know what causes this. I can map to the drive and all but it cannot
read from the source. I've just created and formatted a partition using 98
boot dis...any ideas will be very appreciated.

Thanks.

Can't help much w/ the specific network problem, but frankly, I *always*
install any MS OS by copying the installation files to the partition I
intend to install. Even if I have a CD.

I create a bootable Win98 partition as FAT32, then copy the i386 directory
over (from CD) to the new partition, then run setup. In fact, I usually
image copy it first to some freespace at the end of the same HD using BootIt
NG (http://www.bootitng.com), or even CD. So now I can restore that image
at any time to do a reinstall.

I assume you're running setup from Win98 (graphical interface, not boot
disk), thus you have access to the partition. Just copy the files over,
shutdown, reboot w/ Win98 boot disks, then run Setup (new partition should
preferrably be C: once rebooted, this is where something like BootIt NG
comes in handy, with it, you can hide the existing Win98 partition from XP,
keeping XP as C:, and Win98 still installed as C: as well).
