network setup

I have a desktop with XP Pro, and a laptop running
XPhome. Both are connected to a NETGEAR WGT624 wireless
firewall router. The desktop is wired to the router, and
the laptop is wireless. The router is connected to the
internet via DSL. As things stand now, I can connect to
the internet from either computer, but when I tried to
network them together, they will either be able to "see"
each other and not be able to connect to the internet, or
be able to connect to the internet, but not "see" one
another. What am I doing wrong?

Josh,

Please start a new thread when asking for help. It is to your benefit, as well
as to the OP, that you not have multiple requests for help in a single thread.

And please, learn to munge your email address properly, to keep yourself (and
the rest of the internet) a bit safer, when you post to open forums.

Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
