Network Setup Wizard

Trying to setup Printer Sharing using a configuration of a desktop connected
to a Linksys wireless router via eithernet cable and a notebook using a
wireless connection to the router.
Not sure of the specific technical operation of such a configuration.
Am very concerned about security.
Have used the Network Setup Wizard in the desktop's Windows XP Pro. A
floppy disk was generated. Now need to convert to a flash drive to setup the
notebook's Windows XP Home Edition.
Will this process work and what security concern's and best practices should
be implemented?
Please advise.
Thanks

I have the same arrangement. Printer sharing is easy, just consult Help &
Support. Neither the of the wizards help with printer sharing.

Copy the file from the floppy to the flash drive. Take flash drive to
laptop. Double click the file that is on the flash drive.

Make sure that you have wireless encryption enabled on the router and the
laptop.
Install a firewall on the desktop and laptop. Make certain that ICMP
packets can flow through the firewall. Let the router be the DHCP server so
that the two computers can get a non-routable IP address.
Please advise.
Thanks

Don,

Being aware of the need for security is a good start. Start by looking at
Network Security in general:

Next, look at WiFi Security:

The Network Setup Wizard generates a floppy to use in setting up older,
pre-Windows XP, computers. To setup the XP Home computer, you run the NSW on
that computer.
