Recently reinstalled XP professional on this machine. I can access other
peer to peer machines, but cannot get to this machine from the others. I get
a dialog asking for a user name and a password.

I turned on simple file sharing, but this machine still wants a password.

Any Ideas about how to disable the passwords??
Thanks

What you can do is create an account on the XP pro machine and create that
same account (same username, same password) on all the other machines.

Thanks
I'll try it!

With simple file sharing enabled, all networked access uses the Guest
account.

Type this line at a command prompt to enable networked access using
the Guest account:

net user guest /active:yes

Make sure that the Guest account isn't explicitly disabled:

1. Right click My Computer.
2. Click Manage.
3. Click Local Users and Groups.
4. Double click Users.
5. Double click Guests.
6. Un-check "Account is disabled".

Remove the network password from the Guest account:

1. Click Start | Run.
2. Type "control userpasswords2" in the box and click OK:
3. Click Guest.
4. Click Reset Password.
5. Click OK without entering a new password.
