Network monitor with details in realtime

I've looked at a large number of monitors over the years but I don't
recall seeing one recently that displays the details of a connection
in realtime. (other than the netstat utility).

On linux there is an app called trafshow that does that. I wondered
if there is something similar for winxp I've not yet seen.

Trafshow isn't all that great either since you have to change screens
to see the different info and can't get it on one screen with frames
or the like.

What I want to see in realtime or nearly so, is each connection... its
source and destination IP. The port its using on either end and the
amount of data going over it. Where its going on my machine in terms
of directory or file would be nice too.

A list of these sorted and either updating in 2 second interval or in
actual realtime would be ideal.

Anyone here have experience with a monitor that can do that? Or can
provide URL's to ones they think are capable.

Harry,

Excepting the idea of having the display show file folder / names, I think Port
Explorer pretty much does what you're looking for. I can't think of anything
any better anyway. Refresh intervals selectable at 1, 3, or 5 seconds.

Thanks Chuck... that appears to be just the ticket. I didn't want to
reboot following the install just now so haven't actually used it yet
but when I went to download it I discovered I already had that in my
`Things to try' directory.... hehe... Must have heard of it and forgot
to try it out.

Harry,

It's a wonderful tool, and one of the few that I would pay for again, if and
when they come up with V3.
