I solved the mystery of my non-functional network, but
now I have another problem.

I have three computers on a small LAN home network. All
of the computers have access now, but I have noticed that
while the two win9x computers can access any file or
folder with easy and within seconds, my XP home machine
takes quite a while to access the other two. To be clear,
my 2nd and 3rd place machines can access each other and
the xp machine MUCH faster than the xp machine can access
them. The xp machine is better than the other two in
every way, and all three comps use a router for internet
access. This network has no server, or at least no
defined server that I'm aware of.

So, what gives? Why is my best machine my slowest to get
on the network?

Much love.

If it's slow to recognize/connect to them and then it's fine after that,
consider this:

Basically, XP is trying to check the Scheduled Tasks on the remote machine.
It greatly impacts the initial speed!

I tried the fix on the website. I haven't noticed any
change in my network or online speed. But thanks for the
reply.
