2 computer network on XP Home Servie Pack 2. Desktop and laptop. Was working
fine. Both computers see each other and shared folders but can only open
shared on laptop. Get message 'not enough server storage to process this
command' and sometimes 'network path not found'
Have Norton AV.
Have tried altering IRPStack- Always reverts to hexadecimel b when rebooted.
Tried troubleshooter -says computer name may already exist on network- tried
renaming- also not helped.
Any ideas.
Yours in desperation,

Yours in desperation,

If you have NAV and the problem exists, remove NAV. Get something like Avast.

Remove NAV carefully, following all instructions from Symantec.

Thanks Chuck,
Removed NAV safely. Network shares still not available with same responses
and IRPStack still reverting to hexadecimel b after resetting to decimal 15
when PC rebooted.
Any other suggestions

OK, detective work.

Get RegMon (free from Microsoft).

http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/essential-tools-for-desktop-and.html#Regmon

Set the RegMon filter to the IRPStackSize value, and watch and see when it gets
changed. If it's happening on reboot you may have to work to get RegMon started
automatically. When it gets changed the process changing it will be identified.

Thanks again. Trying regmon but do no seem to be able find what is changing
it. Have set filter to IRPStack and checked boot but event not highlighted.
Just about given up now

Only entry I can find in regmon.log to do with IRPStackSize is-
176289:
System:4 QueryValue HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\NetBIOS\Parameters\IrpStackSize NOT FOUND

Any suggestions?

You want
[HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBIOS\Parameters\IrpStackSize]

ControlSetnnn are images. Please read again:

http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/06/server-functionality-affected-by.html

What's the current value of
[HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBIOS\Parameters\IrpStackSize]
??

Thanks again,
There is no KEY with IRPStackSize in
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBIOS\Parameters\
Is this the problem? If so should I make one?

That's the problem right now. So you have to make one.

Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.

Made the DWORD and value in NeBios parameters and rebooted, but still no joy.
I give up!
Thanks for all your assistance though
