network help

I have 2 XP machines networked thru a Netgear Router which in turn is
connected to an ADSL modem.
I am having a problem seeing machine#2 on machine #1.
I have 4 of the 6 drives mapped but when I attempt to map the other 2
drives(just never got around to it till now)
I get the error...\\\xxx is not accessible. You might not have permission to
use this network resource.Contact the administrator to find out if you have
access permissions"
On both machines I am the administartor and I can easily access machine #1
from #2 as well as all of the mapped drives either way.
Can anyone tell me how to solve this ??
thank you in advance

Thank you for your time Mark
Unfortunately none of that seems to work for me.....some of it applies only
to Pro and I have home.
The problem is I cannot access the computer....the mapped drives I can
access.
By not being able to access the computer I cannot add new mapped drives.

It's so much easier to suggest solutions when you don't know too much about
the problem
