network drives lost

I have a windows 2000 server. I installed five new XP
boxes on the network. I did not join the domain. I setup
the same accounts for both server and workstation. I used
the net use f: \\servername\sharename. This mapped the
drives fine. Once we reboot we then get a red x over
these drives. I double click on the drive and it comes
back up. Is there a way to get around this? Does MS have
a fix for this? Did I do something wrong when mapping the
drive?

Thanks,

No, this is by design. The network drives are not re-connected until
they are accessed for the first time.

Server will disconnect idle connections to conserve resources. The
connection is re-enabled when data x-fer is required.
