Network connection to internet?

I can not get my windows 98 SE computer to connect to the
internet through my windows XP comuter. I can see files
from one computer on the other computer. I went through
the windows help menues and I think the problem is that
under the Local Area Connection Properties -> Advanced
there is no box to check that allows you to enable
sharing an internet connection over a network. All it has
is a box to check for an Internet Connection Firewall. Is
there any way to get the network box to appear?

The XP comp is the one connected the the net through a
modem. The two computers are connected together by
eathernet cards.

Since the LAN connection is what is connecting the two computers, Internet Connection Sharing is not enabled on that adapter. You'll find this setting on the Modem's properties.

I would try to run the Home/Small office network wizard
again on XP remember to choose the option that the XP PC
in connected to the internet and other pc's access the net
through the XP box.

You must have 2 Nic's on the XP PC, unless you have what I
have a 4 port PCI card switch which is inside my PC, the
internet connection sharing should be done on the NIC that
is connected to the internet not the LAN you must open
file and printer sharing to access files from both systems.

This is not correct. You can share a dial up connection just as easily as a broadband connection.

You need to re-read the question, he says nothing about
how he connects, if it is via dial-up or broadband.

My answer is not wrong, it is to the point.
