Network Connection services and protocols

Hi everybody

I have generated an XPe image containing a network connection. The
connection has the following items bound to it :

Client for Microsoft Networks
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
QoS Packet Scheduler
Microsoft TCP/IP version 6
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

Of these I only want the last one (TCP/IP). I can uninstall the others
manually but really I dont want them there in the first place.

Ive tried and failed to work out whether any XPe components in my
configuration should be removed. Ive also tried using InCtrl5 to work out
which registry settings are affected when one of these items is removed
(answer: lots !).

Any help would be really appreciated.

James,

I couldn't quite understand what exactly you want to accomplish.
You don't want to bind a network connection to some protocols/clients, right?
If so, you can:

- Delete the corresponding components from your configuration (make sure to turn off TD AutoResolve Dependencies option)
You don't necessarily have to remove the components but rather disable their Installation resources.
E.g., "Quality of Service Traffic Control" - disable "Packet Scheduler Transports Installation" resource (this is the call
to snetcfg.exe).
"Quality of Service RSVP" - disable "RSVP service data" resource (service install).

- Use snetcfg.exe utility ("Network Configuration" component) at run time to set up the parameters of required protocols

In any case you will have to perform much testing for the image since you are changing MS network stack a lot.
