Network Connection Problem on Windows XP

My desktop ethernet connection mysteriously broke yesterday. I have a
Linksys Router, a wireless card for my laptop and network card for my
desktop. All of the sudden, my desktop cannot access my home network.
The laptop wireless connection is fine. I've tried messing with all of
the network settings that I can, but nothing seems to help. I even
bought a new ethernet card, but I continue to have the same problems.
WHen I do a "repair", it gives me the error message:

The following steps of the repair operation failed:
Renewing the IP address
Refreshing all DHCP leases and re-registering DNS names

If anyone has any ideas about what the problem might be, I greatly
appreciate any help that you could give. I took screenshots of my
network settings and the error message that at posted them at

Thanks!

Bad cable? That would be the logical next step - to replace it.

If replacing the cable doesn't do the job, try this:

Assign the IP address manually instead.
Show the router as the Gateway
Put in the Gateway address in the DNS as well - and maybe one or two of your
ISPs DNS server addresses.

Now can you see anything?
