My mother requested that I connect to her computer to help with a few simple
tasks...

I don't know the best way to do this. We are in diferent states. She wants
me to uninstall programs, delete files etc.
Security is important as some of her files are business related.

She has windows ME on a DSL connection

I have windows XPsp2 and share my cable connection via router
with another xp computer and a game console (PS).

is VPN an option ?
