Network Adapter losing connection and wont renew

I am having a problem where my desktop adapter loses connection to the network, and only goes online when I reboot, however the connection only lasts for a few minutes. Does it have anything to do with "autoconfiguration" on the adapter card?I tried deleting and reinstalling TCP/IP but to no avail. Help please.
 
What kind of desktop adapter? Wired or wireless? If wireless have you
turned off 802.1x authentication?
