NetMeeting in windows XP

It is good to see so many people responding the need for hel with Windows xp and NetMeeting
Yes it is true that net meeting is already there and all you have to do is go to run config, and it will either open or install
That is the easy part. How do you get it to work so that you can contact someone else and do either video conference or audio conference or both. We are a group of 5 people all running Windows XP Home edition, and we all have NetMeeting installed on our computers, and NetMeeting opens up with now problem on all of our computers. But, when we try to make contact the windows directory window opens, and we get a message telling us that NetMeeting has been superseded by MSN Messenger, and we are directed to go the the MSN Messenge site and download and install MSN MEssenger 6.0
We all have msn Messenger 6.0 on our machines, and it works well. We just prefer the superior quality of vidoe conference that we used to get in NetMeeting when we were running windows 98. Every body we talk to tell us they have the same problem. So All of you who say it is already there and give instructions on how to open it, How about some insturction on how to get it to function. That would be really helpful

Thank
Allen

Thank you Kelly for a very brief response to my request for help in getting NetMeeting to run in Windows XP Home Edition.
I follwed your directions to remove NetMeeting and Best I can tell I did have some success. However in the Inf folder the netmtg.inf fil was not there. I did find a file called netmtg with no extension, I clicked on that file and chose install. As you said there was a request for the xp cd. However when I inserted the xp cd, the reinstallation process could not find the necessary files. I then restarted my computer, and I got a message saying NetMeeting had been removed from my computer and id I want to clear my personal settings. I chose yes, and some action took place althou I could not see the action. When that action completed I was then invited to reinstall NetMeeting. I chose yes, and I navigated through the steps for installation, and when it completed I had the NetMeeting Icon on my desk top. However, NetMeeting will not open up. The NetMeeting Logo Flashes for a brief moment, and it dissapears

I do have a working e mail address, and I would very much appreciate if you could contact me at this address
(e-mail address removed)

Thank you very much for your kind assistance in this very important matter

Hi Allen,

You are welcome. The reason you aren't seeing the extensions has to do with
a setting under Folder Options.

What you could try is NetMeeting logging/debugging: Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Conferencing\Debug

dword value: RetailLog
set it to 1

Restart Netmeeting for the change to take effect.
Note: The log file will written to [NM_Directory]/nmLog.txt

Other than that, do some reading here and good luck!

Hello Kelly
I now have Net Meeting opening up. However it reports no hardware detectd on audio, and no harware detected on video, and all my video options are grayed out. I cannot start the camera, and I cannot start the audio within Net Meeting
I have tested my camera and my sound system, and both are correctly configure, and both are working as they always have which I assume is correct. I can record audio and video, and I can chat on linw with AIM, MSN Messenger, and Yahoo chat
Why is Net Meeting not detecting my sound and video system

Thank you very much for your patience and willingness to help me with this project
