netlogon does not load

Hi
I am running a dell Optiplex GX 270 with Windows Xp
trying to log onto a Windows 2000 domain. When i try to
log in, i get an error message saying netlogon is not
running on this machine. Any ideas would be helpful

At Start / Run enter services.msc
and verify that Net Logon service is not set to
Disabled. Manual is normal. Click on it and
r-click Start. Does it fire up or error out? and
if it errors out with what message, and what
gets written into the event log ? If it fails, is
the Workstation service set to Automatic and
started ?
