Net Work help Needed

My main computer o/s is xp home fat32 and the 2nd
computer is xp pro fat32. When setting up my network I
used a network card on both computers, and a cross over
cable. I used the home network wizard, and the group both
have the same name (MSHOME). When completed I can see the
network icon on my task bar and able to see when the
other computer is turn on or off, but not able to see or
share files or the internet. I have then manually set up
the ip addresses as 192.168.1.2 and 2nd one as
192.168.1.3 and both submask is 255.255.255.0. I have
trying pinging the other computer but it times out, but
there no problem when I ping each computer ip address on
that computer....Hoping that some one can answer my
problem

i have had this problem for months now and no one could
help me ...... simple solution as i found out by trail
and error... just go to device manager on the machine
which isnt hooking up and uninstall the ethernet card and
start again..that simple
