.net v1.1 vs v2.0

Hi,
The programmer I am using to build our website says he has done the code for v1.1 but many hosting providers only run v2.0. (its therefore not compatible)

How hard would it be for hin to convert the code to run on v2.0?
Should i be worried that he has done it in 1.1? (will it be obsolete in the future?)

Any oppinions greatly appreciated
