Net send PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hello, i would like to use the net send feature. I am using windows xp pro. when i type in netsend (ip address) then the message, a black box comes up with nothing in it. and the freind i am trying to send the message to does not get the message. is there a way to fix this? PS: I am behind a router, and my friend is not. he is on the other side of town. also, what port does net send use? Thank you id advance. Shawn.

It uses networking. It works with network names. It nothing to do with the internet. Create a VPN with you friend. Type it in help if you don't know how.

I don't really believe getting it to work is a good idea... check

That is a pile of crap. On a correctly configured computer it can't happen. It happens because thay are networking with the internet. Dumb.
