.NET Runtime Event ID: 1023

Every time I run a .net application I receive the error box that pops up and
says the application has encountered a problem and needs to close. I receive
an Event ID: 1023 in the Application log from the source .NET Runtime with
the description ".NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.1433 - Fatal Execution Engine
Error (79FFEE24) (80131506)".

I have upgraded to the latest service pack 1 for .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0
and uninstalled and reinstalled without any success. I found a similar issue
on Microsoft's knowledge base [Article ID: 913384], but that fix is rolled up
into the installed service pack 1.

Does anyone have any ideas before I reload XP? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Actually I have just experienced my first; 3 days after upgrading to .NET
SP1. I am running quite a strange environment:- remote debugging my
application (which is a gui app) - so I am hoping that its got something to
do with user-context - although SP1 was meant to solve this problem I am
*hoping* its only going to happen while I remote debug.

Strangely, and worse for me was that it didn't crash in my remote session!!!

I cannot easily replicate the error - but if you can, perhaps its worth
using something like Debug Diagnostics to get a dump of the callstack? I
don't really even know which process you could monitor!?!?! Any one have any
ideas?
