Net Object Fusion

My site was created using NOF and I would like to be able to make changes to
it myself. Can Frontpage interpret those pages, or do I have to stick with
NOF?

NetObjects Fusion has its own format for storing the raw files prior to
publish. You can dink with a published site with pretty much any tool, but
you will have to use NetObjects Fusion for the raw site file(s).

If that's how they are stored. Didn't NOF also have the option to save them
as plain HTML?

By the way, I have never seen worse HTML than that written by NOF.

NOF stores the pages in an internal database format. Basically, it's
a homegrown format to handle the needs of NOF. During the publish process,
NOF translates the layouts into HTML. NOF needs to store it's pages in this
database in order to get the great layout features it does. NOF was the
first product on the market that really let developers position items on a
page like they would with a graphics application (and cost about $600 too).
Unfortunately for NOF it has been fairly limited by this database format.
Nice concept, but it doesn't work well in a large environment where multiple
people really need to work at it since it's basically all in one file
(unless you want to buy into Team Fusion).

Thanks Mark. I never used it, I only looked at the resulting train wrecks.

This is abundant evidence that WYSIWYG might not be the best web approach, I
think! 8)
