I'm running XP Home and finally figured out how to start Netmeeting. I went
to Start/Run and typed "conf" and it started. Only problem is, each time it
starts, I get the same error message, "could not find server 'Microsoft
Internet Directory'". Any idea what's up? I'm using DSL, so I'm always
connected. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Later...

Go to Tools|Options and uncheck to automatically login to Microsoft Internet
Directory, as this server is no longer valid :-)

Thanks John, I know this next question is rather basic, but how do I know if
I don't ask? How do I get a list of server names to know what to type in the
box to connect? Is that the only way to share video with another user? Will
the specific user I want to share with know how to hook us up? Thanks for
your time...

I don't actually use Netmeeting, but logging into the server is only
so other users can see that you're online and contact you directly
from your name in the listing. You should be able to initiate a new
call just from entering the computer name you wish to contact in the
Address Box and clicking the Place Call icon which looks like a
telephone.

This is from the Netmeeting help files:

To find your computer's name

Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
If you use Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0, double-click
Network. Your computer name appears on the Identification or Network
Identification tab.

Hope this helps :-)

Thanks John, I'll give 'er a try. Later...
