.NET framework won't install on WIN XP Home

I get the following error messages when I attempt to install .NET Framework
V1.0.

"1259: Error installing .Net Framework"

"Microsoft .Net Framework v1.0 is incompatible with this version of Windows.
All of its features are currently part of Windows."

I need to install in order to use PowerQuest V2i Protector 2.0 ( Drive
Images v7).

Finally found something about problem on MS KB (tried earlier, nothing).

Installed SP1a and .NET Framework installed OK.
